More threads again!

When I got up today, I was feeling bloated and nauseous (and NOOOO, I'm not pregnant!). Me thinks it's the cold cuts I bought for my lunch. Anyhow, this evening I'm feeling slightly better but I didn't have any breakfast, I did have lunch from Subway though (not cold cuts!) and had very little dinner.

Today I asked my boss if I could buy a mini spool rayon set and what my price would be. She wanted to know why since I have the whole polyester line in mini king cones, well although I have 306 glorious colours, sometimes it's just not the right shade, so my only option is to get some rayon spools but I don't really have the space for them so instead I got the mini set. It retails for $270.00 and she gave it to me! Wasn't that nice of her? She said she gave it to me because I've been bringing some work home to proof read and Patrick has been proof reading it too. So this is what it looks like. What I like about the size of these spools is that you can bring a bunch of them to class and it won't take up too much room. I have a couple of projects I'd like to start on, I just need to find a bit of time... and energy. LOL

Postcard

I got a lovely postcard today from Monica who lives in Spain. It's for our animal swap. Isn't it pretty?
This evening I started feeling under the weather, not quite sure what is going on but hopefully a good night's rest will help.

This evening I took a several pictures of some of the flowers around the gardens, so here are some of them. These are just some of the flowers in my front gardens.

I won

I got an email today tellling me that I was the lucky winner of 1000 charm squares. Wow... They should be arriving next week, I'll tell you more about it as it happens, I was on this site Miss Snips
Nothing much going on other than watching DVDs, I seem to be busy with Frasier and Dallas. Season 9 of Dallas just came out yesterday so guess what I'll be watching for the next little while.

I haven't been doing much sewing lately, I've been reading more and not quilting books either.

So how was your day?

That nasty wind

It's a good thing that it was nice out today and I wanted to sit in the gazebo. When I glaced over at our potted tomato plant, I couldn't see it so I figured it had been blown over like one of our pots in the front yard was. Yup it was but at least it was only sideways not completely upside down like the first one was. However when I heard Patrick say OH NO, I knew something was really wrong, so I kept saying whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? what's wrong? To get to our attic, there's a trap door on the outside of the house, the trap had fallen two stories which means that it was completely open to the rain. Since it had been raining for two straight days and we had really strong winds, we're not quite sure when it happened. We looked around some more and one of the window screens had fallen and another had major damage as the trap door banged on my son's bedroom window then to fall another floor down. So we put the screen back up, got the up that was still up down as we had to fix it... and we took the ladder out to get the trap door back up but our ladder wasn't big enough, so dh asked one of our neighbours after Jonathan got a ladder but it was the same size as ours which is 16 feet and that wasn't nearly high enough.. The second neighbour is a firefighter, so he brought the trap door up, stayed on the ladder and had a quick look to make sure no birds were in there and secured the door. We thought Jonathan's bedroom window was broken but thank goodness its' not, the frame for the screen though is another story. We've patched it up temporarily though.

It's only held up by two latches that turn. I don't like it that way so we'll have to figure something out to make sure it stays in place better.

Well that was essentially the excitement of the day.

What

When we got home from work on Friday, my DS told me that he didn't want to come to the restaurant with us, so it was just the two of us. We went to The Keg and we had a lovely meal courtesy of my sister and my BIL since we never used the money that was given to us last year for this. Our meals were delicious. We don't normally go to restaurants of this price range but hey, since it was our special day, why not? After that, DH asked me if there was anywhere I wanted to go. Since we were very close to Nygard's I figured why not pop in there to see what they have. I'm only interested in their sale stuff since they always have sale stuff or liquidation stuff. Well I hit the jackpot. I bought three blouses and they cost $3.95 each (before tax of course) and these blouses normally sell for $32.00 and $36.00 each. That was a lovely ending to the day.

The weather both Friday and Saturday was pretty shitty to say the least. Today was even more so as it was chucking down with rain ALL DAY, (that includes morning, afternoon and evening). I don't think I've seen this long a period of raining since we moved here 7 years ago... We ran a few errands and we decided to go out to dinner again since we had a bit of that money left from my sister and BIL and we went to The Round Table. I've been wanting to go there for years but we've read bad reviews about the restaurant so we never went. It's an upscale restaurant (at least by Canadian standards) and you could swear you were in a British restaurant by the look inside, it's just lovely and the food was spectacular. Again, a restaurant with a pricier menu than in the restaurants that we usually visit but it's worth the money! Ahh to say that we've lived here all this time and never went before. Well I won't let another food critic stop me from going somewhere.

Today is laundry day and grocery shopping day.

It's my wedding anniversary and....

....it's also the 1 year anniversary of my sister's death. Strangely enough I'm not too sad today. I realize that she's not in pain and in a better place not to mention with the rest of my family. They're just going to have a long wait before I get there because I have no intentions of "kicking the bucket" anytime soon (grin). Last night, I was sitting outside on our swing and I was talking to my sister (everyone does that right?), and I was telling her that I'm sure if she could send me a message she would and perhaps she was but I wasn't seeing them and how I wish she could send me a message of some kind... Within seconds this one white bird was flying in the sky (usually birds around here fly in packs), and if that wasn't enough then a robin flew in my back yard a few feet away from me... Now birds don't usually fly up close to me either. I'd like to believe it was her...

The plan for today is work work work and then DH, DS and myself will go to the restaurant for dinner. You see my sister had given us some money last year right before I came back to Winnipeg and it was so that we could celebrate our 10th anniversary with Jonathan since they wouldn't be here with us. Since that wasn't possible then as I was back in Montreal and clearly not in any frame of mind to "celebrate" my wedding anniversary, not to mention that DH was in Winnipeg, I thought I'd give it some time. Well.. it's time.

Oh guess what.. I got a blogger award. I got this from Anne in France (she's actually a Brit). Thank you! It made my day.

I'm told that I must pass this one to 5 bloggers so here they are:

Rose Anne as I just love reading her blog and what she's up to
Susan in Australia, another fabulous blog, quilting, knitting and her animals
Jane from the UK, it has all sorts of information and contests too
Mercédès from France, she has a bit of everything including a thought of the day
Yvonne from the Netherlands actually translates her blog so that I can read it

Have a great day!

Another sewing day

Yesterday I got my Quilting Arts TV DVD series 200. I haven't watched it yet but I'm sure it'll be as fabulous as series 100. One thing I was annoyed with though was that when you pre-order, they debit your credit card immediately without telling you about it. My DVDs were shipped two months after I had paid... Oh well, I'll know not to do that again since I don't approve of this practice and I don't think it's legal in Canada.

I've been working religiously on my totes and I'm happy to report that they are both finished. I'm quite happy with the results.

Last but not least, in today's mail I got two magazines from New Zealand Quilter courtesy of Susan in Australia. Thanks a bunch Susan.
